I'm not personally a medical professional, but my younger brother was raised with Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis (JRA), so I'm very familiar with having a long term illness in my direct family. There were so many doctors along the way that helped him succeed, helped him to walk, to live a normal live. These doctors went far above and beyond the call of duty.

This holiday season, thank a medical professional that has touched your life in a special way.. Visit www.hero.md to tell your story and thank someone today.

Check out this site to say THANKS!

I'm Lisa and I'm 19. I w am new to the community and was born with a complex cardiac condition. I created this LiveJournal today in hope to spread the word about my life and my experience in the hospital and so on.

I don't expect sympathy, comments, or anything but I am free to answer any questions you might have.

I think a community like this is great to have here.

Thank you

Sibley Hospital in DC [03 Jul 2005|12:42am]

[ mood | cheerful ]

Well, first let me say that I have been a patient in a hospital to many times to count. I have asthma and so have visited to many ERS and hospitals to count. Before going to Sibley I deffinitly would say that I hated them, but because of thetreatment I have recieved at this hospital I now would have to say that I love some hospitals, Sibley imparticular. I love it so much, that I would like to volunteer there and was wondering how easy this is to do? I mean, do I have to go through a rigourous screening process, or can I just fill out some paper work? I'm in school, so the time I have is limited, but this is something I would really like to do, I would like to give back to an institution which has given so many hours and such good treatment to me. Sibley is wonderful and if you ever find yourself needing a hospital in DC I can't recommend Sibley enough!
BTW, Thanks to who ever started this community! We need to get more people on here telling ER stories and such.

I love hospitals. I don't know why. I have always felt homey in them, and now I volunteer in one and I love it. I am going to be a nurse! Okay, I just wanted to share.
